WILMINGTON, NC — Four local performers are part of a national competition to win a trip to Nashville and be showcased in a singer/songwriter show with top musicians. It’s part of a contest to help promote the Shuckin’ Shack Fresh & Raw Tour Together with Trust.
Voting in the “Battle of the Openers” contest is already underway and will continue until October 12th. You can vote here once a day through October 11th.
The four performers from our region taking part in the contest are Janko Winehart from Wilmington, Lorna Ford from Leland and Elliott Smith and Zack Aaron, both from Carolina Beach. You can watch performances from each on the same link above.
The person with the most votes on October 12th wins a trip to Nashville and a showcase slot in a show courtesy of Grindhouse Nashville at Live Oak Bar. Those dates have yet to be determined.
The Fresh & Raw Tour, featuring headliners Barrett Baber and Taylor Goyette, will feature several stops in the Cape Fear area.
September 24th – Surf City, 6pm
October 5th – Wilmington, 6pm
October 6th – Leland, 6pm
October 7th – Carolina Beach 11am (Full day music festival)
The tour raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
