WILMINGTON, N.C. – The headline isn’t a stretch. Even before the DJ and electronic music superstar Griz stunned his fans early last month with the announcement that he was taking perhaps a considerable amount of time off from touring, the popular Grizmas in July show series sold out quickly in Wilmington. The Cape Fear loves Griz and his concerts in late July are expected to deliver some more special moments, even more so now that they might be the last here for who knows how long.

The series used to take place at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater, but with the opening of Live Oak Bank Pavilion in 2021, more fans have been able to witness the talent in person. Griz puts on a high energy show with his DJ and sax skills. He has a stacked lineup joining him in the Port City later this month — Smoakland, Black Carl! and Saka on Friday July 28th and Mersiv, A Hundred Drums and Canabliss on Saturday July 29th.
I caught one of his two shows at Bonnaroo in Tennesee last month. The energy was enormous and the positive vibes were infectious.
Even if you can’t make it inside Live Oak Bank Pavilion for either show, downtown will be buzzing all weekend long with fans and excitement. It’ll be a fun place to be later this month.
